For brands, that reach is genuinely interesting, and the tools available to tap into it have matured considerably. This isn’t novelty territory any more. Virtual try-on is converting sales. So what can a business actually do with Snap AR in 2026, and is it worth the investment?

The honest caveat: the quality of the try-on depends heavily on the quality of the 3D models or textures provided by the brand. Good try-on Lenses require proper asset preparation. Brands that ship low-res images and hope Snap’s tools compensate will be disappointed.

Lens Studio and Who’s Building These

Lens Studio is Snap’s free development environment for creating Lenses. It’s genuinely capable software with a node-based scripting interface, a behaviour graph system, and TypeScript support for custom logic. An experienced AR developer can build a polished Lens faster in Lens Studio than in most other AR tools.

You don’t have to hire Snap directly. There’s a large ecosystem of Lens Studio-certified creators and agencies who build commercial Lenses for brands — costs range from a few thousand pounds for a simple branded filter up to £50,000-plus for a complex try-on or interactive experience. Snap’s Lens Network marketplace is also worth checking if you want pre-built Lenses you can customise quickly.

Beyond organic Lenses, Snap’s advertising platform lets brands run AR Lens ads — sponsored Lenses that appear in the Lens carousel for targeted audiences. The try-on and commerce use cases have genuine ROI evidence behind them now — this isn’t just a brand awareness play.
