When Apple launched the original Vision Pro in early 2024, the reaction from enterprise buyers was predictable: impressive technology, completely impractical price point. At $3,499, you could kit out an entire small team with conventional hardware for the same cost. The enterprise use case was real — but the economics weren’t.
Vision Pro 2 changes that calculation. It launched in February 2026 at $2,499, powered by the M5 chip with on-device AI inference twice as fast as its predecessor. Roughly 75 per cent of units shipped are going to enterprise buyers rather than consumers. The product that looked like a developer preview two years ago is becoming actual infrastructure.
Here’s what’s actually shifting the numbers.
The price and performance point
The M5 chip isn’t just a spec upgrade. For enterprise applications — spatial training simulations, 3D design review, surgical visualisation — the faster on-device AI inference means richer, more responsive experiences that don’t need to round-trip to a cloud backend. That matters in environments where network connectivity is unreliable or where patient data privacy rules out cloud processing.
At WWDC 2026, Apple announced expanded enterprise APIs: better device management integration with Jamf and Microsoft Intune, persistent spatial anchors that remember where virtual content sits in a physical space between sessions, and background processing for computer vision workloads. These aren’t consumer features. They’re the details that make IT departments comfortable deploying at scale.
The price drop to £2,200 in the UK (accounting for VAT and Apple’s UK pricing) puts it in range for enterprise procurement budgets that previously would have treated Vision Pro as a pilot-only device.
Where enterprise teams are actually using it
The use cases getting traction aren’t the sci-fi ones. They’re the operational ones.
Training and simulation is the clearest win. Organisations with high-cost or high-risk physical training scenarios — surgical teams, manufacturing engineers, aviation maintenance crews — can run a spatial simulation in Vision Pro for a fraction of what it costs to set up physical environments or use specialist training equipment. The Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins have both deployed visionOS surgical training programmes that generate 3D anatomical models from actual patient CT and MRI data. Simulation quality is high enough that it’s changing how junior surgeons build procedural confidence before touching a patient.
Field service guidance is the second strong category. KLM’s Engine Shop app is the often-cited example: technicians working on aircraft engines see torque sequence overlays and safety checks directly on the physical components in front of them, rather than juggling a manual alongside the actual hardware. The hands-free, context-aware nature of the overlay is the point — paper manuals and tablet references both require the engineer to look away from the work.
3D design review is where the enterprise creative sector has moved fastest. Product teams using Spatial Analogue and similar tools can review physical-scale prototypes with remote collaborators without manufacturing anything. For hardware companies, the savings on physical prototype iterations add up quickly. Industrial design firms are using this as a selling point: clients can walk through a product at full scale before the first unit is manufactured.
What’s still hard
None of this means Vision Pro 2 is a frictionless enterprise deployment. There are real limitations that matter.
Battery life tops out at around two hours on the built-in battery, which is fine for structured training sessions or specific workflows but rules out all-day wear. The external battery pack extends this, but it’s another thing to manage and carry.
App availability is still relatively thin compared to iPad or Mac enterprise software. Custom development requires investment — you’re not going to drop Vision Pro into your organisation and immediately find visionOS versions of your existing internal tools. Teams that are getting the most value are typically those who’ve commissioned bespoke applications for a specific workflow rather than expecting off-the-shelf coverage.
And despite the price drop, £2,200 per headset still adds up quickly at department scale. The business case needs to be concrete. Vague productivity claims don’t survive procurement scrutiny. The organisations getting sign-off are the ones who’ve run a measurable pilot — reduced training time, fewer prototype rounds, decreased support call duration — before committing to wider rollout.
The realistic enterprise posture in 2026
Vision Pro 2 is no longer a “wait and see” device for enterprise. It’s a “build a real business case and pilot it properly” device. The technology is capable enough. The price is no longer the primary barrier. The question is whether you have workflows where spatial computing genuinely changes the outcome, not just adds novelty.
If you’re in manufacturing training, surgical education, aerospace maintenance, or high-value physical design review, the answer is probably yes. If you’re looking for a general-purpose productivity upgrade, you’ll get more value from better software on the hardware you already have.
The enterprise XR market needed Vision Pro 2 to be less of a statement and more of a product. It’s getting there.
